Now onto the good stuff.
THE ABOMINATION WE ALL FACE
“Follow your desire as long as you live, and do not perform more than is ordered, do not lessen the time of the following desire, for the wasting of time is an abomination to the spirit…”-11th maxim of Ptahhotep
The above quote is from around 2400 B.C.E.
Strange, isn’t it?
That in an era that is unfathomable to us and that lacked all forms of modern technology, great thinkers still considered the wasting away of time as an abomination to the spirit.
And they are 100% correct.
It seems that our finite time has always been a troubling aspect to those who truly set aside the time to meditate on it. After all, we are here only for a blink of an eye. Yet despite this cruel and unbreakable truth, despite the impending doom, despite the inevitable, so many continue to let this abomination continue.
And continue it does.
It continues in your drama, where you engage in pitiful and meaningless squabbles. You may achieve a victory, but at what cost?
It continues in your frivolous pursuits of entertaining yourself to death, binging every show on every network.
It continues in the coming metaverse, where you will be able to appear as anything except content.
It continues in your career, where you continue to work long hours for very little benefit.
It continues in your spending habits, where you spend your limited funds on superficial and meaningless items.
It continues in your constant traveling, not to elevate your mind, but to keep up with others on social media.
It continues in the loss of opportunities because you are too busy to realize that they are there.
And it will always continue…unless you put a stop to it.
The wasting away of time. The siphoning off of life. The personal decay of your own existence.
But how can one put a stop to such an abomination?
How can we alter our behavior?
How can we change our lives before it is too late?
Is it even possible?
