THE DANGER IS REAL
“If you keep thinking about what you want to do or what you hope will happen, you don’t do it and it won’t happen.”-Erasmus
You have dreams. You have goals. You have aspirations. These are legitimate. They are there waiting for you to bring them to life.
Yet so few actually do.
Why?
Many cling to excuses. They are lacking in both time or resources. They lack education. They don’t have the right connections. Others will blame poor habits that have been instilled into them by their peers. Others will scapegoat an uncaring society. But the truth?
Simple.
The endless supply of distractions that are ubiquitous in the modern world.
We have just survived the deadliest pandemic in the last century but when it comes to the contagion that is our technologies that infect our minds and actions, there is no such thing as a vaccine.
We give no thought to the memes, tik-toks, viral sensations, dances, or endless content that continues to push us further away from our goals.
And these can be deadly.
Because every single time you become distracted, your dreams die a little. We are in essence, entertaining ourselves to death.
You cannot see it or feel it. Like many threats, it is a slow burn. But this accumulates. One minute gives way to one hour and then to an entire day. Soon, we lose track of our most precious resource, the finite amount of time we have at our disposal.
This is death by a thousand cuts. Death by distraction.
“Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.”-Theophrastus.
Notifications ping you throughout the day. Social media is flooded with new content. Entire seasons of your favorite shows are released at once. The news seems to be breaking every five minutes. Podcasts are dropping, webinars are starting, and people are gathering on Clubhouse to discuss the inconsequential. Before you know it, you may find yourself lost among the noise.
