STOP TALKING
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”-Henry David Thoreau
We live in a world that is driven by talk. With the proliferation of social media, we not only have the ability to constantly talk, but are encouraged to do so. So rather than focus on what we want to do, what we need to do, what we must do, we delay.
We hesitate.
We share articles and videos.
We comment.
We post memes.
We go live.
We get involved in political arguments and debates.
We do everything to be heard, to have the last word, to prove a point.
And this is just online. This doesn’t include our gossip, our group chats, and our SMS threads.
Everyone is talking but so few have anything to say.
So rather than continue in the pointless drivel, we should be doing the opposite. We should be taking action. We should be working away at our goals, not talking about them.
We should be forging our own path in the world.
This is more difficult than it sounds.
The path won’t be built for you and the overwhelming approval you seek will be nonexistent at the beginning.
It always is. That is why it is up to you to put in the work.
Real work.
Real work, however you define it, is work.
Talk is cheap, work is expensive.
This must stop, especially if you want to truly create and build something that matters. There is a latin saying for this which should be inscribed in the wall in front of you.
Fac Si Facis
Do it if you're going to do it.
