TIME IS RUNNING OUT
“The wisest are the most annoyed at the loss of time.”-Dante Alighieri
It’s March, 2022. Just two months ago, society was full of new year’s resolutions. New year, new you. There were goals and ideals. Some committed to exercise more while others promised themselves that they would eat healthier. Some made a vow for a new career while others made no vows at all.
But just how many have stuck to these resolutions? How many are keeping up with them? Spring is upon us and for many, this year has been cruel enough already. So much has happened that the ability to focus on their goals and themselves is proving too difficult. They delay themselves, telling sweet little lies. Later this year they will get back into it. Later they will make a return. Summer for sure. And if not summer, then fall. And if not fall, then winter. Winter it will happen.
Yet this never transpires. Excuses only strengthen with time. And time is a finite resource, one that is always fleeting. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
But the multitude fail to realize this simple but troubling fact. To them, there is plenty of time. What’s the rush? Why do today what can be done tomorrow? After all, today was busy.
But what of tomorrow? Tomorrow is full of opportunity but it is also full of distractions. If you aren’t capable of climbing the mountain today, what makes you think you will be capable of such a feat tomorrow?
Tomorrow holds infinite possibilities but it also holds everything else, which is far more appealing, pleasurable, and interesting.
