Welcome to the YouTopian Journey. Each week I will be sharing unique wisdom as well as a more in-depth overview of the artwork that is featured on the Instagram @youtopianjourney. This week we will continue the discussion of the mediocre majority by delving into the differences you may have noticed between the “last man” and the “slave.” More importantly, we will discuss the pendulum of purpose and why you need to take control of it.
Before we begin, make sure to follow Fernando Melek on Instagram and drop him a line. He is truly the most talented artist in the industry and as you can see in this issue, he goes above and beyond to turn my thoughts into masterpieces.
THE PENDULUM
“If you keep thinking about what you want to do or what you hope will happen, you don’t do it and it won’t happen.”-Erasmus
We can’t see it.
But it is there.
The pendulum of purpose.
It hangs over us, following our each and every move. The majority ignore this feeling or attempt to delay it. Whether it be through entertainment or pointless work, the feeling can only be postponed, but not removed.
Why?
Because purpose is what drives us! It is a force that makes the impossible possible, that transforms obstacles into advantages. Yet so many lack purpose. After all, there is no app for purpose. You cannot summon it. You cannot swipe to the left or scroll down. You cannot opt in and you certainly cannot check the box and click “I agree.” Purpose must be discovered and instilled by you. You must face the difficulties of this task without the advantages and conveniences of the modern world. And you must face these difficulties immediately. There is no shortcut or hack that can help you. There is only you and an overwhelming desire for purpose.
“Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it by yourself.”-Walt Whitman
If you don’t acknowledge this pendulum of purpose or realize its importance, then you could be forever lost.
