WHAT WILL YOU DO?
“There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life.”-Frank Zappa
In our lives, there comes a time when we must take action. We can no longer put off the task that has existed in our mind, that has nibbled at our soul. We have to learn that new skill, make that first attempt, and take responsibility for the result, whatever it may be.
This is more difficult than it sounds.
Why?
Because more often than not, we face defeat and failure. This is enough to deter the majority from even making an attempt. Yet it isn’t defeat and failure that stops the individual from pressing ahead.
It isn’t the pain and suffering that they may feel.
It isn’t the doubt that is within them, causing them to question their path.
It isn’t the difficulty of the task at hand, or the future difficulties that lie ahead.
Instead, it is the thoughts and opinions of others.
The people that surround them. Their peers, colleagues, friends, associates, and authority figures.
They are everywhere.
The critics.
The self-appointed and self-anointed experts.
The herd of epic proportions, with negativity and opinions to match.
All have an opinion.
All have feelings toward your goals and dreams.
Most will not be positive.
The questions become evident.
What will you do?
What will you do when they laugh at you?
What will you do when they chide you?
What will you do when they comment on your status updates?
What will you do when they assert that you were wrong and they were right?
How will you respond?
What will that response be?
Will you even have the courage to do so?
