Our multi-issue special continues here in YouTopian Journey.
The battle has finished.
If you are just discovering YouTopian Journey, we have spent the past several issues discussing how to use pain, how to live with a sense of urgency, how to battle fear, and ultimately how to use your time to live a more fulfilling life. These issues were both free and paywalled, allowing only paid subscribers full access.

DEFEAT!
“The most delightful surprise in life is to suddenly recognize your own worth.”-Maxwell Maltz
So we find ourselves at the end of it.
The battle has been fought.
You took a chance.
Faced your fear.
And what was the result?
The treasure you sought?
The realization of your goal?
The sense of pride and accomplishment?
The glowing praise and admiration of your followers?
No.
Defeat.
Total and utter defeat.
Not just a defeat, but a beating. A bloodied and bruised defeat which almost destroyed you.
It happens to the best of us. It doesn’t matter how prepared you were or how many resources were properly allocated, we all take a beating. For some of us, this is a daily occurrence. For others? Yearly.
And some never face a beating at all, a true pity.
Really? Why?
Too fearful to take a chance on themselves and their ideas, they played it safe. They never rose to the challenge, never took an opportunity when it presented itself, and never got noticed by anyone.
They played it safe.
The result of this safety?
They were never able to prove themselves.
Never able to test their mettle.
Never able to see what they were truly made of.
And they were robbed of their abilities, their future, and their prosperity.
“Human beings do not realize the extent to which their own sense of defeat prevents them from doing things they could do perfectly well.”-Colin Wilson
You must realize that defeat plays such a pivotal role in our lives, both personal and professional. It has so many advantages and benefits. Yet we flee from defeat. We retreat from the thought of it. It is too painful, too regrettable, and too embarrassing. Nobody wants to watch a movie where the heroes lose or read a book where the characters don’t achieve their goals.
And besides, what benefits could their possibly be in defeat?
